Safari Braai Shack

Bored of same old food in MK, I happened upon this place looking at a google map for “restaurants” . The word Braai stood out. I have only had bunny chow and South African steak in the past, but they were delicious, so as a steak lover I decided to hit this place up for date night after checking out the reviews. Wow did it deliver!! We ordered the things on the menu that were completely out of ordinary, and included ingredients I had never heard of. They were delicious!!! Lovely to be having things that I had never had before, totally new tastes and smells! I adored it!! Servers were super helpful with making decisions. One of our dishes (sorry don’t remember name) had beans and like some vegetable medley with it, and they were yummy and totally different from what’s I am used to. I didn’t get steak in the end, but there were various options like zebra and crocodile, but also just plain cow. They also had pizza and burgers of several animal types. The place is super unique, and just delicious, I saw reviews from some South Africans that said it was delicious, and I totally agree (from an American!) Final note, it’s in a disused pub.

We drove 2 hours, from Norwich, to have a taste of 'home'; AND IT WAS WORTH IT!! The food was impeccable; I had the mutton bunny and my husband had a combination of braai meats and pap. It was truly delicious and well worth the drive. Thanks to Dennis, our waiter, for being welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

My husband and I (both South African) went and found the food truly authentic and delicious. The staff were friendly and we will definitely be back again! It was also nice to see some South African beers and ciders on the menu.

This might be a bold statement but they were probably the best chips I’ve ever eaten, and I’d say the burger was in the top 5. Lovely chap behind the bar as well who also took our orders. Ice cream also banging, 15 burger and chips, 11 two pints and 5 for ice cream. Absolute top meal out. Will definitely go again.

Authentic incredibly cooked south African food (speaking as a South African) fantastic spices, flavours and great customer service!! Highly recommend it all

We could write a dissertation on not only how beautiful this place is, but most importantly the friendliness of the team, including those you may not always see inside the restaurant. We spotted this pub earlier on in the day, and said we would go there when returning on our journey, as the character and personality the building gives off, was a major factor to wanting to go. I can’t thank the team here enough, not only for being so welcoming and gleeming with enthusiasm, but in answering questions to the theme that underpins the establishment. In being curious, and hearing the South African themes that run throughout, in what is a modern and contemporary in decor, with abstract interior, and placement that makes it aesthetically gorgeous. The food, we only had a brief snack due to a quick stop, however in what we ate, the food is up there in standards, and recipes that clearly are from the heart and influenced from family recipes. The taste, presentation and unit flavour balance, for us, Sealed it. On a personal level, you made us forget about the world, and both me and my partner were able to be wrapped up in our love, and finding ourselves. I can’t recommend anywhere within, and beyond the area, other than here. On a final note, for me, this is an establishment who is securing long sustainability, in having the perfect balance in all areas We will see you soon!!!!

I recently visited Braai Shack for a family gathering, and it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with unique and flavorful dishes that were unlike anything we’ve had before. Every bite was a delight! The highlight of our visit, however, was the amazing customer service. Our waiter, Kay, was exceptional—so friendly, attentive, and hilariously funny! He made our meal even more memorable with his humor and warm personality, creating the perfect atmosphere for our family gathering. I highly recommend Braai Shack for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and an unforgettable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
